BIRTH DOULA

Provides physical emotional and educational support to a woman and her partner through pregnancy birth and immediate postpartum. During this time the doula and mother develop a relationship in which the mother feels free to ask questions express your fears and concerns and take an active role in creating her birth plan. Although they are not medical professionals most are knowledgeable in medical aspects of labor and delivery and can help gain an understanding of a procedure and possible complications of that procedure. They have the ability to provide comfort with pain relief techniques including breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, some massage, and labor positions. Doulas also encourage participation from the partner and help offer reassurance. The goal of the doula is to help mother experience a positive and safe birth whether unmedicated, medicated, induction or cesarean birth.

SIBLING DOULA

When it’s time to welcome your new baby, sibling doulas offer the best expert care available to your older children during your labor and birth. We provide care for many different birth and family situations. Some families chose to make the older sibling a part of the happy event. In these cases your sibling doula can be there to explain what is happening in an age appropriate way, bring then in and take them out as you want, and meet their physical and emotional needs when necessary. Other families just want to know that there older children are being provided for and cared for so they can feel confident during their birthing time.

POSTPARTUM DOULA CARE / NEWBORN CARE SPECIALISTS

Provides evidence-based information on things such as infant feeding including breastfeeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant soothing and basic newborn care. Postpartum doula helps a new family in the first few days and weeks after bringing baby home.

Services include helping “mother the mother” and nurture the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn, day AND night. This includes things like helping mom and dad feel more confident in their roles, sharing education on family adjustments, tending to the unique needs of the new mother. She can also help with things as light housekeeping, light lunches, assisting in dinner prep.

Fee schedule starts at $30/hr

NIGHT NANNY

The role of the night nanny is to tend to the needs of the baby throughout the evening hours. These duties include diaper changing, feeding, burping, swaddling, soothing baby so mom/partner can get the crucial sleep needed to properly take care of the baby, siblings, and necessary duties during the daytime. If mom is choosing to breastfeed, the nanny will bring the baby to mom as needed or on the schedule set by the family.
